Travels to Turkey
Turkey is a country located on two continents, Asia and Europe.
Its geographical situation, its culture and its history have made it one of the most visited tourist destinations recently.
The country's best-known city is Istanbul. It is also the most populated.
Its history goes back to the year 667 BC, when it was founded with the name of Byzantium. Centuries later it changed its name and became known as Constantinople. It is by that time that it becomes capital of the Roman Empire, but after the fall of the city into the hands of the Ottomans, it became known as Istanbul.
The most interesting places of this world heritage city are, among others, Hagia Sophia and Hagia Sophia, an Orthodox basilica reconverted into mosque, the Blue Mosque, Dolmabahçe Palace, Topkapi Palace, the Basilica Cistern, the Suleiman mosque, Grand Bazaar, the Spice Bazaar or the Bosphorus Strait, which separates Europe from Asia.
Outside Istanbul the best known place is Cappadocia, a region famous for its particular geology Anatolia Central. Their essential sites are Göreme, the underground cities in Kaymaklı and Derinkuyu, or the towns of Aksaray and Nevşehir, Kayseri, Urgup Uchisar. In recent years, rare initiatives such as the balloon tours have become popular in this area, allowing to see the strange geological formations from the sky.

- Konya, religious Center of Dervishes or Mevlevi.
- Pamukkale, "White Castle" in Turkish, a geological formation from which termal waters flow and at the top of which you can see the ruins of Hierapolis, a helena city dating from the 2nd century B.c.
- The ruins of Pergamum and Ephesus, mainly Greek and Roman. In Pérgamo , the most important library of antiquity after the one in Alexandria is located. Also Asclepeion, an important healing temple. In Ephesus was the Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of antiquity.
