Takahara -Hosshinmon-Oji – Kumano Hongu – Kawayu Onsen

Your hand luggage will be transferred separately to your accommodation on Kawayu Onsen and will arrive in the afternoon. Please leave it in the lobby upon checking-out.

Breakfast at the hotel.

After picking up your picnic lunch at the accommodation, you will be transferred by shuttle from the accommodation to the nearest bus stop. Departure from Takahara on a public bus to Hongu Taisha-mae without a guide.

In Hongu Taisha-mae, there is a meeting with a local English speaking guide to start the first day of the Kumano Road. Hike from Hosshinmon-oji to the Sanctuary of Kumano Hongu, one of the three most important sanctuaries of the Road, accompanied by a local English speaking guide (7km, approx. 3h). Picnic lunch. Visit to the Kumano Hongu Shrine, the nearby Oyunohara and the Kumano Pilgrimage Center, where you can see the exhibition on the different routes of the Kumano Road.

After the visits, transfer to Kawayu Onsen on a public bus without a guide. Free time to enjoy the thermal baths of your hotel or the Kawayu River.

Dinner and overnight at KAWAYU MIDORI-YA or similar for 1 night.
