Delhi stands as the capital of modern India, here you can see a mix of Indian styles, from the oldest to more recent works. Delhi has seen the rise and fall of many emperors, which has left a lot of monuments commemorating the greatness and glory of times gone by.
First we visit Mughal with the tour of Old Delhi: the ancient walled city.
The Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan moved the Mughal capital from Agra to Delhi. Possessing remarkable talent in architecture, he created the seventh city and in the process brought glorious rebirth of New Delhi.
Then visit Jama Masjid: one of the largest mosques in Asia that can hold up to 25,000 people. Towering over Old Delhi, Friday Mosque was the definitive architectural work of Shah Jahan, built between 1644 and 1658.
We will explore the busy streets in a rickshaw cyckle intricate, also known as tricycle, a local form of transport. Will cross the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk (literally “Silver Street”), the perfume market more wealthy of India, we will also make a visit to the largest wholesale market spice of Asia. Will pass by the symbol Red Fort, Shah Jahans, symbol of power and elegance. (Closed Mondays).
Afternoon: New Delhi visit. On the traces of Lutyens.
The greatest British architect: travel through the imperial part of the city, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens for the British in the 1920s. We continue along the main street, watching the impressive Rajpath, commemorative arch of World War I, India Gate and beyond the Rashtrapati Bhawan, the residence of the President and the Parliament Buildings. Also we visit the Sikh Temple in the Bangla Sahib, which is one of the most popular place of worship in Delhi, the Delhi Sultanate.
We will visit Qutab Minar the highest minaret in India and the Humayun’s Tomb, a masterpiece of Mughal architecture.
